WHO WE ARE

Our Mission Statement

Creating a model learning environment where young children thrive, families flourish, and early childhood professionals excel.

We accomplish our mission through these Four "Cornerstones" of the MACFC approach:

Hands-on Learning

OUR FOUR CORNERSTONES
QUALITY SERVICES

·  High Quality Early Care and Education- available five days a week for children from 6 weeks to five years of age. The MACFC program is characterized by low ratios of children-to-staff, small group sizes, multi-age classrooms, a creative curriculum, and well-qualified, dedicated eachers, who demonstrate a genuine respect for each child and his or her unique abilities.

FAMILY SERVICES

·  Family Services – a family services specialist helps families access community services to address individual areas of concern, such as workforce preparedness, literacy, and financial, medical, or emotional issues. In addition, we offer workshops on parenting and other topics, and have on-site family resource centers, which provide libraries of books and other materials.

HEALTH SERVICES

·  Health Services – children benefit from regular health screenings, including vision, dental, developmental, speech and hearing exams. Therapists observe children in the classrooms, assist with developing individual evaluation plans, and provide therapies for children with special needs. We also work to instill healthy habits in our children, such as brushing teeth and washing hands.

TEACHER EDUCATION

·  Teaching and Training –  includes college students from several area institutions of higher education who take classes on-site, as well as observe and participate in classroom activities and complete special projects. In addition, area childcare providers tour our facilities to learn about our program.

BELIEFS & VALUES

Beliefs

  • We believe in nuturing the development of the whole child.
  • We believe the most effective education requires the active partnership of family, community and school.

Values

We value and are committed to the following principles:

  • Compassion and love for children
  • Intentional building of relationships
  • Integrity and honesty
  • Respect and acceptance for individuals and their uniqueness
  • Creativity and imagination
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn
  • Application of current professional knowledge and practice

Based on these beliefs and values, we have intentionally created a blended program that is asset based.

  1. Blended Program- All Children, no matter what their economic circumstance, deserve the early care and educational experience found at MACFC. We also believe appreciation for others and learning is enhanced when we work and play with those who are both like us and different in some ways. Our program includes children of different ability levels and gender, as well as those of diverse cultural, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds. This commitment to blending forms a foundational piece of our philosophy.
  2. Asset-Based Program- At MACFC, we celebrate the gifts that all children and families have share. We are convinced that the most meaningful growth for both children and adults occurs by building on their strengths.
